CDH Investment Bank boosts Beit Cure

CDH Investment Bank donated K7.9 million to Beit Cure International Hospital as part of its efforts to improve health in children. The donation was made during a handover ceremony at the hospital in Blantyre. 

Making the donation, CDH Investment Bank’s Chief Treasury Officer, Mr. Zondwayo Mafuleka shared that CDH Investment Bank values partnership and teamwork and is proud to support the hospital to conduct 7 life changing surgeries. CDH Investment Bank recognizes that people with disabilities make a positive contribution towards the achievement of social and economic development goals. To that extent, the Bank is committed to helping the health sector in creating an environment conducive for inclusive development.

CDH Investment Bank has assisted Bankers Association of Malawi (BAM) with a donation of K1.5 million towards the hosting of the 2023 Bankers Association of Malawi Lakeshore Conference from 17th to 20th August 2023 at Sunbird Nkopola in Mangochi under the theme “Banks for all, and development for all”.

At the cheque presentation ceremony which took place on Tuesday 8th August 2023 at the bank’s offices in Blantyre, Executive Director – Finance and Operations, Beatrix Mosiwa said they have decided to sponsor the conference as part of appreciating the advocacy role that BAM plays in uniting and guiding commercial banks in the country.

CDH Investment Bank has donated K2 million to the Financial Market Dealers Association (FIMDA) for the 2023 annual conference slated for 13th to 15th October 2023 at Sunbird Nkopola Hotel in Mangochi. The theme of the conference is “the role of financial markets in the attainment of MIP-1 Pillar 1: agricultural productivity and commercialization”.

Presenting the cheque in Blantyre, CDH Investment Bank Chief Treasury Officer Mr Zondwayo Mafuleka, said CDH Investment Bank decided to support the conference as a partner, as the bank appreciates the role FIMDA plays in enabling markets and addressing pertinent issues that affect forex exchange dealing, money market, fixed income, equity instruments and more in our financial market in Malawi.

The conference brings together industry experts, academics and professionals from various fields to discuss the latest developments and innovations in the TEVET Sector under the theme "Promoting Technical, Entrepreneurial and Vocational Education and Training for Enhanced Socio-Economic Development in Malawi".

CDH Investment Bank opens K16.9m school kitchen in collaboration with Mary’s Meals

CDH Investment Bank, in partnership with Mary’s Meals, has invested a K13.8 million school kitchen and feeding block in Mbinda, Blantyre. In addition, the bank has also sponsored K3.1million towards the schools feeding program that is managed by Mary’s Meals.

The kitchen was officially launched on Tuesday 13th June 2023 in a ribbon cutting ceremony held at Mbinda Junior Primary School in Blantyre. The event was graced by various stakeholders such as the Principal Education Officer, Zelita Zamula, Ministry of Education who was Guest of Honor at the event, Village Headman Mbinda, representatives and staff from Mary’s Meals Malawi, CDH Investment Bank, the school committee, teachers and students from the school and community members from the surrounding areas.

Warriors, Mystics shine in CDHIB basketball cup

Crazy Warriors and Mikoko Mystics have won the CDH Investment Bank Southern Zone Basketball League (SOZOBAL) end of season cup in the men and women’s divisions respectively. The end of season basketball cup hosted by SOZOBAL worth K5million was sponsored by CDH Investment Bank.  

The competition drew glamour as the teams as the teams put up their best to get better results. Warriors saw off Malawi University for Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) Wildcats 64-53 in the final at Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHES) Sports Complex in Blantyre while Mystics did it with a 49-36 victory over Sparks. 

The cup glory was a relief to Warriors and Mystics as they finished as runners-up in the league.

CDH Investment Bank, in partnership with UNC Project Malawi, has invested a K15 million school block at Nafutsa Primary School Dzama, Lilongwe.

The school block was officially opened on Wednesday 31st May 2023 by the guest of honor, Mrs Judith Chiwoko, the Primary Education Advisor. The event was also graced by representatives and staff from UNC Projects Malawi, CDH Investment Bank, the school committee, contractors, and students from the school and community members from the surrounding areas.

CDH Investment Bank (CDHIB) has sponsored K15, 000,000.00 to Southern Zone Basketball League (SOZOBAL). K10,000,000.00 will be used for 2023 CDH Investment Bank Cup popularly known as “MONEY IN THE BANK Tournament” and K5,000,000 for 2022/2023 end of season CDHIB SOZOBAL Play Off series to start in May after conclusion of league games. 

Speaking on the sidelines of the presentation, CDH Investment Banks, Chief Credit Officer, Mr Sungani Mkandawire, shared that the bank has supported the association in managing the league as part of its corporate social responsibilities to promote sportsmanship, health and teamwork.

CDH Investment Bank Limited, a subsidiary of Continental Holdings Limited along with its sister companies, Continental Asset Management Limited, Continental Capital Limited and Continental Properties Limited have donated K60 million to the Red Cross Society of Malawi for relief efforts to victims of Cyclone Freddy.

Speaking in Blantyre at the presentation function Mr Kingsley Zulu, the Group Financial Controller of Continental Holdings Limited and Director of CDH Investment Bank said that during difficult times like these, it is very important to join hands with the Government of Malawi and the entire nation to lend a helping hand to those who have been negatively impacted by the cyclone.
