In its commitment to support and improve access to education through shelter that will support learners with proper infrastructure to realize their future dreams, CDH Investment Bank (CDHIB) has donated K15m to University of North Carolina (UNC) Project to support its education project at Dzama Educational Development Program in Lilongwe.

Speaking in Lilongwe on Friday 25th November 2022, the bank’s Chief Executive Officer, Kwame Ahadzi, said the initiative is part of the bank’s 10th anniversary.

He said the bank seeks to continue creating value by giving back to the community and supporting initiatives aimed at developing the country.

Said Ahadzi: “Our cordial relationship with UNC Project has allowed us to appreciate the good work the project is doing in the provision of a variety of health services that strengthen health systems in Malawi. We also appreciate that the Project has various corporate cordial initiatives that it drives.”

He added that the bank is excited to be part of the cause as it believes helping children will have a direct positive impact on the destiny of the country. He said that CDHIB values teamwork and partnership with UNC Project to contribute to the country’s socio-economic development.

CDHIB has been contributing to the country’s education development efforts in a variety of ways over the past ten years – ranging from the provision of learning materials, infrastructure, and financial support to less privileged students through their institutions of learning. The bank has also supported merit awards to excellent performers in disciplines that have a potential of providing future talent pool to the bank.

UNC Project Malawi Country Director, Innocent Mofolo, said the money will be used for the construction of a school block at Dzama Child Education Project in Lilongwe. He said that this is the largest donation UNC Project Malawi has received for the development of Dzama Child Education Project from a corporate partner.

Said Mofolo:”In the past, we have been having donations mainly from individuals. The school started with one block in 2004 as a community orphan care Centre at a time Malawi had less availability of HIV treatment and there were mainly orphans.”
