CDH Investment Bank has donated K3.5 million to Beit Cure International Hospital, in Blantyre. The donation was made in order to support the hospital sustain charitable paediatric surgeries which it carries out to children at the hospital. Making the donation, CDH Investment Bank’s Chief Treasury Officer, Mr Paul Nyachiwowa expressed the bank’s appreciation to the hospital for the great work they do in supporting children with disabilities. “we are touched by your great spirit of service especially towards children and we have been compelled to support you”. He said that during this time, when the world is battling the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, we hear that operations at the Beit Cure International Hospital have been negatively affected.
The pandemic has affected delivery of your core services to children mainly the provision of post-operative rehabilitative care and mobility devices to children who have received treatment at the hospital. We believe that our contribution will go a long way in assisting you take care of our children during these very unprecedented times.
Receiving the donation, Beit Cure Hospital Medical Director Dr Kaiser Raphael thanked CDH Investment Bank for the gesture and expressed confidence that the funds will go a long way in providing mobility devices and post-surgery care for many children at the hospital. He further indicated that it is sad to learn that some children had failed to enjoy normal life during the COVID-19 restrictions because of their lack of basic life support resources and post-surgery care. Dr Raphael added that, through the partnership with CDH Investment Bank; the hospital will endeavour to ensure that children with special needs receive better care and support from the hospital especially now as the world is facing social disintegration resulting from the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. He further called upon other institutions to emulate the example set by CDH Investment Bank in supporting the plight of the special needs children who he said has a right to good life similar to any normal child.
Beit Cure International Hospital is the main specialised orthopedic hospital in Malawi offering services to both adults and children. The hospital offers free services to children and paid services to adults. Services offered among others include fracture repair, club feet repair and all other physiological services.
