Responsibilities
- Based in Blantyre and reporting to the Head of Internal Audit and Compliance, the incumbent will be responsible for safeguarding the assets of the group through the conduct of audit assignments to ensure that the internal control processes that management has established to identify and manage the various risks faced by the group are adequate.
- Review and recommend improvements to systems and procedures which, when implemented will enhance the group’s operating efficiency.
- Conduct special investigations to detect or determine the magnitude of potential or actual fraud.
Key competencies
- Mature, responsible and highly disciplined individual, able to work with minimum supervision
- Up to date knowledge of the regulatory environment affecting financial institutions in Malawi.
- Ability to analyse internal controls, collect, evaluate and summarise audit information
- Ability to produce audit reports of high standard
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Qualifications and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accountancy and studying towards a professional qualification.
- At least 2 years of audit experience in a financial institution or professional firm
