Franklin H. KennedyFranklin Kennedy

Franklin has extensive experience in international banking with a career spanning over 45 years. He is currently Non-Executive Chairman of TransAfrica Holdings Limited (Mauritius) and is also a Non-Executive Director of the African Export-Import Bank (AFREXIMBANK). Franklin is President of Equator Capital Partners, a private equity fund management company investing in regulated financial institutions supporting the micro and small business sectors in emerging markets. He serves on the boards of the funds being managed by Equator and chairs the respective investment committees. Franklin served as Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Equator Bank plc, a UK registered and regulated merchant and investment bank focused on sub Saharan Africa from 1988-2002. He joined Equator Bank, a predecessor of HSBC Equator Bank Limited plc, in 1976. Between 1968 and 1976, Franklin held various positions with the Royal Bank of Canada.

Franklin was also a Private Sector Advisor to the Canadian Government for the structuring and selection of the management for the $100million Canadian Investment Fund for Africa and served several terms as a member of the African Advisory Committee of the US Export-Import Bank. He was also a Director of Corporate Council on Africa in Washington DC.

Franklin is a Canadian citizen and holds a Business Administration Degree (Honours) from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, Canada. He is currently a resident of the United States.


Edward Ted Sauti PhiriTed Sauti-Phiri

Ted brings to the team an impressive multi-industry experience having worked for a Coca-cola franchise, acement manufacturing firm, a banking institution and a telecommunications blue chip in Africa. Ted served as Managing Director of Airtel Sierra Leone Limited between 2006 and 2010. Between 1999 and 2006, Ted served as Finance Director for Celtel Malawi Limited, Chief Finance Officer for Airtel Tanzania Limited and later for Airtel Zambia Limited.

Charles AsareCharles Assare

Charles has strong experience in investment management, investment and commercial banking and financial advisory which spans over a period of over 28 years. Charles is a Financial Management Consultant, consulting on various transactions in Ghana. Charles started his banking career with the Bank of Boston, USA, in 1985. In 1990, he was appointed Vice President of Ecobank Ghana Limited. He also served as Vice President of HSBC Equator Bank, Connectiucut, USA between 1994 and 1998.

Kofi O. SekyereKofi Sekyere

Kofi is currently the Chief Executive Officer of TAH Capital (Pty) Limited (South Africa) and Chairman of SDC Finance and Leasing Company Limited (Ghana).

Kofi has a distinguished career in banking built over 22 years. Before joining TAH Capital he was Chief Marketing Officer for HSBC Equator Bank Plc (UK) based in Johannesburg South Africa. Prior to this, he served as Vice President and Regional Director for HSBC Equator Bank Plc based in Accra, Ghana. Between 1993 and 2000, Kofi held positions of Assistant President, Vice President and Regional Team Leader, and Senior Vice President and Regional Director with HSBC Equator Bank Plc based in Lusaka, Zambia. Kofi also worked with Citibank Zambia Limited. He has also worked with AT&T Bell Laboratories Homdel (USA) and Motorola Incorporated (USA).

Kofi has a Master of Business Administration degree (MBA) and Master of Science, Transport Studies (USA) from Massachesetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA. He also holds a Master of Science in Materials Science and Engineering (University of Virginia, USA), and Bachelor of Science in Physics from Bates College (USA).


Robert AbbeyRobert Abbey

Robert is a currently Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CDH Holdings Limited.

Robert has a strong professional accounting and financial services background spanning over 40 years in a number of African countries, namely: Zambia, Ghana, Malawi, Kenya, Rwanda and Liberia. In 1999, he was appointed Chief Operating Officer and Director of TransAfrica Holdings Limited (Mauritius). Robert is a Non-Executive Director of CDH Asset Management Limited, CDH Capital Limited, CDH Commodities Limited, SDC Finance and Leasing Company Limited (Ghana) and CDH Capital (Rwanda) and TAH Capital (South Africa).

Robert is a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (England). He also holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) Degree from Brunel University/Henley Management Centre (England).

John R. McGrathJohn McGrath

John is currently Managing Director of Imani Development (Malawi) Limited. He is also Director and shareholder of Imani Development International in Cape Town, South Africa responsible for Malawi, East, Central and Southern Africa, excluding South Africa. Between 1993 and 1997, John was Director and shareholder of Mountain Ridge Limited, a coffee farm. He also served as Chairman of Business Consult Africa, Industrial Development Group, GHC Haulage Trucking and Haulage Limited, Stephanos Children’s Home and Navigators Malawi. John was the Malawi Representative for African Management Services Company (AMSCO) between 1989 and 1991. John is also shareholder and chairman for the Kwikfit franchise group (motor tyre companies) in Malawi and Zambia

John has a strong background in business, economic development and public sector consulting.

Before joining Imani Development Limited, John worked with Business Development Africa Limited as Managing Director and Director (Malawi and South Africa). In 1988, John was appointed Managing Director for Sasfin Central Africa Limited. He also served as Managing Director of Financial Services Limited between 1992 and 1997.

John has a BSoc Sc in Business studiesand a BSoc (Honours) degree in Economics, both from the University of Cape Town.


Gibson Ngalamira Gibson Ngalamira

Gibson is currently the Head of Operations at Press Trust Limited with over 12 years experience in management of social development programmes, programme evaluation, investment portfolio management, strategic planning, and corporate governance and company secretarial practice. Before joining the Trust in 2003, he briefly worked for Deloitte and Touché, an auditing and financial advisory services firm.

Gibson has served as a non-executive director on the boards of CDH Holdings Limited and Press Agriculture Limited. He has also previously served as a non-executive director on the board of Namiwawa Hotels Limited. In July 2011, he was appointed to serve as a Technical Committee Member (Director) of the joint UNDP/ Press Trust GSB Pro-Poor Revolving Fund.

Gibson is a dedicated Chartered Secretary (ACIS) as well as a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Accountants (FCCA) and an ACCA affiliate with London College of Accountancy. He is an accomplished business expert able to provide professional advice on current principles of good corporate governance, strategic management and statutory compliance. He holds a Bachelor of Accountancy Degree from the University of Malawi and CAT Diploma from Malawi College of Accountancy.


EsauMisheck Esau
Managing Director

Misheck was appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of CDHIB on 2nd April 2012. Misheck was Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Continental Discount House Limited until its successful conversion to the bank in April 2012.

Misheck has over 18 years experience covering accounting, treasury management, risk management, bank management, structured trade finance, project finance and investment management. He joined Continental Discount House in 2004 as Head of Treasury. In 2005, Misheck was appointed Head of Business Development and Marketing before being appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer in 2007. Previously, Misheck worked as Treasury Manager of Nedbank (Malawi) Limited. He also worked as Bank Examiner with the Reserve Bank of Malawi’s Bank Supervision Department Before this Misheck worked at Malawi Rural Finance Company Limited then a Malawi Government World Bank funded project.

Misheck has been a key driving force in the diversification of the CDH Group which in 2012 culminated in the opening of CDH Investment Bank with its unique service offering.

Misheck is a Non-Executive Director of CDH Holdings Limited, CDH Asset Management Limited, CDH Capital Limited and CDH Commodities Limited. He is also Vice President of the Bankers Association of Malawi and a council member of the Society of Accountants in Malawi (SOCAM)

Misheck has a Bachelor of Accountancy degree from the University of Malawi. He is also an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. He is also a Chartered Global Management Accountant.
