Chief Executive Officer/ Managing Director

Misheck Esau
B.Acc, ACMA, CPA (Mw)

Mr. Misheck Esau is currently the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Continental Discount House Limited. Misheck is a chartered management accountant being a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA-UK) as well as the Society of Accountants in Malawi (SOCAM). He also holds a Bachelor of Accountancy degree (with credit) obtained from the Polytechnic of the University of Malawi (1994). Born in 1969, he is married with three children.

Misheck was appointed Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director in August 2007. He also sits on the boards of CDH subsidiaries: CDH Asset Management Limited, CDH Forex Bureau Limited, CDH Rwanda SA and CDH Stockbrokers Limited.

Misheck joined Continental Discount House Limited in 2004 after serving Nedbank Malawi Limited as a Treasury Manager for six years. As Treasury Manager of CDH and later Head of Treasury, Misheck played a crucial role in the development of new products to augment the core business. He has extensive experience in treasury management, risk management, policy and strategy formulation. In 2005, Misheck was tasked to pioneer the Business Development and Marketing department which he headed till October 2007. As Head of Business Development and Marketing, Misheck was at the centre of the diversification drive the board embarked on in 2005. This also led to the development of new products and services. In this role, Misheck also assumed leadership in the establishment of CDH Forex Bureau Limited as a key service point in the foreign exchange market for the clients of the CDH Group. In 2008, Misheck championed the establishment of CDH Stockbrokers Limited, another subsidiary of CDH.

While at Nedbank Malawi, Misheck was instrumental in product conceptualisation, development and marketing. He has a unique exposure in bank compliance reporting having worked as a bank examiner in the Reserve Bank of Malawi’s, Bank Supervision Department for two years from 1996 where he gained vital experience in prudential supervision of banks and financial institutions. Before joining Reserve Bank of Malawi, Misheck was an accounts officer for two years for Malawi Rural Finance Company responsible for investments, branch financial control and funding.
